Melanie Sill is an experienced news executive, change-maker and Pulitzer Prize-winning editor now working in North Carolina as a senior news consultant with a focus on innovation in public-interest journalism and local news sustainability. She was vice president for content and executive editor at KPCC/ Southern California Public Radio from 2012-17, and before that was senior vice president for news and editor at the Sacramento Bee and The News & Observer of Raleigh, where she began as a reporter before moving into a series of editing and management roles. Among the N&O projects she directed was “Boss Hog,” an investigative series and subsequent coverage that won the Pulitzer Prize Gold Medal for Public Service.
